And So It Begins

I can't help myself sometimes. When I picked the new colors for our house I figured it would be summer before we made any real progress.  Of course, in retrospect that was purely my ambition, never in a million years would I be able to wait that long.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending my cousin's Bat Mitzvah in Charlotte, NC. While I was there Peter was in Memphis, rainy Memphis. His plans to fill the weekend with yard work were dashed when he woke up on Saturday morning to find a lake where our backyard had been the night before.  In light of the rain, I suggested that he, maybe, if he wanted to, and really did like the color, could paint the bathroom.  And he did. That man knows the way to my heart!
Next up for the bathroom: new accessories.

Motivated by Peter's work in the bathroom, and the fact that it is Spring Break so I have the time, I decided to get to work. After cleaning the bookshelves, I spent two hours painting the back wall.  We've been talking about doing this for a long time, practically since we moved-in, but it wasn't until the YHLers did it that my anxiety about the project was relieved. With the shelves painted, simplified, and rearranged, I wanted to see how it would look against the new wall color. So I painted. Personally, I think it looks very clean and bright. Exactly what we are going for!
Unfortunately, I only had 8 ounces of paint meaning I was only able to paint a sample or two. But, man oh man, those are some good looking samples! We may even leave them up for a few weeks, or months.
Next up for the living room: more paint and curtains, though maybe not in that order.
