Happy Halloween!

Another Halloween, another four hundred pieces of candy given away! This year our neighborhood posted rules to help with crowd control. Trick-or-treating was scheduled to end at 8:00 but our candy was gone by 7:15 - Peter is a bit heavy handed but we'll call it generous. Once we ran out of candy, we turned off the Halloween music and let the dogs loose in the house. No one came knocking after that.

Something to Consider

I saw this on Pinterest yesterday and instantly decided that I agree:

A few weeks ago I discovered that the baby has some distinct musical preferences. While driving to Nashville, I noticed that the baby likes Ingrid Michaelson. NPR was airing an interview with her and whenever she played a song the baby would move. Of course I had to test the strength of this preference so I put her music on at home and, sure enough, the baby moved every time.

I've put on other music but none with the same effect until last weekend. On Saturday we saw Sara Watkins play a show with her brother, Sean Watkins, and Todd Lombardo. Let me just say for the record, I'm pretty confident we were the youngest people there. I don't know why, perhaps it was the venue. Anyway the show was intimate and a showcase of pure talent. The baby stayed motionless for the first few numbers then Sara played All This Time. The baby liked it, a lot. After that the baby had four other songs that he (or she!) enjoyed. Most of them were new tunes or covers. It's so amusing because the movements start and stop with the song. Once the preferred music or song ends, no more movements. Looks like we may need to get this baby a ukulele or a fiddle.

Recently a bunch of wonderful and time consuming things have occurred:

First, this guy got married so we went to South Carolina.
Six days later, this guy did too so we went to Nashville.
Before both weddings, this little guy was born so we went to Georgia. He's our first and only nephew and he, like his sister, will completely steal your heart.
Once our travels were complete, my dad came to visit for a couple of days!
Alas.  Lots of good times. Not lots of blogging.
