Tennessee Tuesdays

From 2:00 until 5:00 every Tuesday, the Memphis Zoo offers free admission to anyone with a TN Drivers License. Taking advantage of spring break, the nice weather, and the free admission, my coworkers and I decided to take a few kids to the zoo. Evidently, over 25,000 people had the same idea (along with some other not-so-bright ideas).

Cuddle Bugs

Yesterday I was unwell. I had to stay home from work with a stomach bug. Luckily, I had the company of not one but two cuddle bugs to nap with.

Spring Has Arrived

Sometime in the last week spring sprung. It is quite nice all over Memphis.
Expect in our front landscaping; there, spring brought overgrowth. Our weeds are out of control. We're trying to get a handle on the situation. Peter unleashed a bottle of Round Up and dug up six bushes this weekend. He still has a few more to tackle before we're through.
Hopefully we'll have some after pictures soon.

Rummaging

In honor of Cathy & WD's 59th anniversary today and WD's 83rd birthday earlier this week, I was looking for a picture of my grandparents. As of this moment, the search has not yielded the results I hoped for; however, I have dug up a few gems.

Whirlwind Weekend

Monday? Already? How about a recap?

1. Saturday, around noon.
"You don't drive a gray Honda, do you?" a stranger asked us.
"No, we do not," Peter replied.
"Good, because someone just hit one with a moving truck."
We breathed a sigh of relief; but, it was too soon. Evidently, a silver Acura looks a good bit like a gray Honda. Unfortunately, it was my car, while innocently parked in front of a local dojo, that was hit by the 16' box truck.

2. Saturday, afternoon and early evening.
A missionary from Malawi, supported by our church, is touring the US with the Jazz Combo Group: Mingoli. We were fortunate to be able to host the event at Streets.

3. Sunday, 8:50am correction 9:50am.
At 8:50, I realized that I was over due to "Spring Forward" and was, in fact, late for a meeting at church. The rest of the day was thrown off; I really don't function well when my sense of time is thrown off.

4. Sunday, dinner.
Sunday, 3.14, was Pi Day. To celebrate, I made Shepherd's pie for dinner followed by apple pie for dessert. Nerdy? Yes. Delicious? Indeed.

5. Sunday, 9:00pm.
Peter and I went on a late date to the movies. We saw Alice in Wonderland which I had been excited about since I saw the first preview last July. I enjoyed the movie most likely because I enjoy Tim Burton movies. The whole thing was a bit weird but a good weird.

6. Sunday, all day.
WD, my grandpa on my dad's side, turned 83!

Have You Seen These Legos?

A few months ago I noticed that a chip in the exterior of Haizlip Studios had been repaired in a fun and creative way. Today, because of an accidental run-in, I had the chance to speak with the gentleman responsible for the repair. Evidently the Legos have been quite popular; runners love to hit the patch as they pass by. He is considering "patching" a few more locations around Midtown in a similar fashion as a sort of distance marker for joggers.
