Happy Friday
People, we have had a great Friday already! This morning Cole and I attended a second birthday party for one of her friends. The party included traditions and food from both America and Argentinia. Before noon, Cole snacked on alfajores, icing, and candy from a piƱata that she whacked. What a way to kick off the weekend!
For the weekend, I want to share a bit of lighter fare: Jeffrey Bausch who was Pregnant Husband is now Daddy Newbie! I may be late to the game on this guy but I'm glad I've finally arrived. Peter and I have been laughing at his pages all week. Also, cracking me up is Lyz, who is a funny, funny lady. She's a few weeks ahead me in her second pregnancy which makes her wildly relatable.

Day Old News
Yesterday was Cole's last day in the baby room at school. It was bitter sweet. Cole is absolutely ready to move up but her teachers have been so wonderful that it makes the transition hard. When Cole started going to school it was all tears, all the time. She went on hunger strike and would only take milk from a spoon. Fortunately, the situation improved and in the last year she's grown to love going to school. She was sad to hear that she'll going to a new class in a couple of weeks. But I'm sure she'll grow to love her new teachers and classmates by the end of the summer.
In other news, yesterday one of my pictures from Instagram was featured on the I Love Memphis blog. If you tag your Instagram pictures #ilovememphis, Kerry will look at them and possibly put them on the blog. I'd never tagged a picture #ilovememphis before this week, but I'd also never seen a dog chilling on the back of a car while his owner shopped for groceries. It was pretty cool.
Finally, the Grizz won last night! They closed out their series against the OKC Thunder and will move on to the Western Conference final, for the first time ever! The whole city is pumped. What a fun time to be a Memphian.

For Nap Time
Sometimes I make an effort to be productive during Cole's nap time. Other times, not so much. I just like to sit down. Sometimes with a book or a couple of articles. Other times I'm less inclined to read for fear I'll fall asleep. During those times, I like to listen to Mockingbird's conference recordings: 2013, 2012, 2010 (there are videos too but I stick to the recordings since I can find them all on one page)*. Take a gander if you think you'd be into that sort of thing.
*For the record, there are also some shows I watch if I'd rather do something mindless.

The Water Is Up & Assorted Readings
The Mississippi is creeping up so the other night we took Cole to have a gander. She was happy to be up past her bedtime and amused by all the dogs and people walking by the water. Peter also gave her a few good tosses in the air which she still loves. And, of course, being East of the the setting sun gave me the opportunity to play with my camera.
On a completely unrelated point, I have a couple of readings to recommend:
First, and I know I just mentioned a Jen Hatmaker book but her blog is brilliant and this particular post read as if it were written just for me, is Jen's post titled "When Is It Time to Walk Away?" Careful, if you read this you may find it sounds like it was written to you.
Another post worth reading is Will's Birth Story. Erin is a dear friend of mine and Will's birth was not what she expected. The story is written so honestly it brings me to tears. Anyway, if you enjoy that sort of thing take a peak.

Some Reading
I need to update my blogroll and Goodreads. I recently joined a Facebook group for Memphis area bloggers and now I'm following a number of blogs by local ladies. It's a lot of fun. Anyway, until I get around to that, I have some reading suggestions if you're in the mood or find yourself with a minute to spare.
I'm not sure that a post is a post unless it has a picture so here's a few of our happy girl from over the weekend. It was cold and dreary but she wanted to be outside in her swing. The girl know what she likes. Who knows were she gets that from?
- Last week Peter and I made the very difficult decision to leave the church that we've called home for the last five years. After wrestling and praying for months, we concluded this choice was the one we had to make for our family. Over the weekend, as I considered upcoming conversations I kept thinking about this post by Emily. I hope to have bravery in conversation, humility in listening, and gentleness to recognize that everyone is hurting.
- For you smartphone users out there, have you heard of #SheReadsTruth? It's been around for a bit now and it's awesome. It's a community of Christian women committed to being in the Word and encouraging one another. I just started the newest plan, Holy Week. It's a short one, but it's good. Won't you join along? No sweat if you don't have a smart phone, you can just sign in online.
- I do, on occasion, read actual books. Right now I'm working my way through 7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess by Jen Hatmaker (who, by the way, has a great blog) and Love and Logic Magic for Early Childhood by Jim and Charles Fay. The books aren't work. I love reading. But finding the time to read is a bit like work. I'm hoping to finish both books my summer

Madness
For the next few months the Scott kids are: 20, 21, 22, 24. The older we get the closer it seems. I know its nuts, but it's pretty cool being so close in age.

Pop quiz: Can you identify this bird?

Answer: It's a Silkie.
Last night, I went to the Tennessee State Fair with some friends and saw two Silkie Hens. Never. Ever. Ever have I seen one of these before. They are so fancy! The Silkies blew my mind. I came home and researched them. According to MyPetChicken.com, Silkies are "the lap kitty of the chicken world, complete with hair-like plumage and an incredibly sweet temperament." I am not in the market for another pet and certainly not a pet chicken but if I were think I'd be all over the blue/black skinned, five-toed, docile Silkies- I mean, look at them!

Door bells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles.
These are a few of my favorite things:
My Franklin Covey planner I suppose I'm fond of all planners and things planning related. This planner happens to be pretty and refillable and that's why I've made it mine.

YoLo The self-serve frozen yogurt trend is just making it's way to Memphis. Of the new shops, YoLo is the best. Delicious. Fresh. Local. What more could you want?

philosophy | field of flowers lotion The fragrance is divine. Before the Acura and I went our separate ways, I went into Sephora for Flowerbomb and happened to sample this lotion. I managed to leave the store without making an impulse purchase. But, when I got to my car the battery was dead. You better believe I went right back into the mall to get this lotion while I waited for a tow. I love it!

Shameless Friend Promotion
I don't typically promote friend's blogs more than linking them below; but, today is an exception. Dearest L. has started a blog! She's crazy talented and deserves some attention. Check out the fabulousness that is Stella Annabelle.

Buzz. Buzz. Buzz.
When Peter and I started dating he had a buzz cut. I wasn't crazy about it but it was cheap and easy. A few years in, I convinced him to grow his hair out. However, we are returning to the cheap and easy hair cut. Last night, with little hesitation, I buzzed Peter's head.
His hair was so long, maybe Edward Cullen long, and that is just too much.
The buzz is back.

9/8c
Please tell me you are watching Modern Family tonight! Wednesday night is my new favorite television night for one reason and one reason only: Modern Family. The humor in the show is spot on hilarious. Seriously if you are not saving some time Wednesday nights or watching the episodes on Hulu later, you are missing out. Study the family tree below, watch a few back episodes, then tonight at 9/8c tune to ABC. You can thank me later.

Rummaging
In honor of Cathy & WD's 59th anniversary today and WD's 83rd birthday earlier this week, I was looking for a picture of my grandparents. As of this moment, the search has not yielded the results I hoped for; however, I have dug up a few gems.
