Answer: It's a Silkie.

Last night, I went to the Tennessee State Fair with some friends and saw two Silkie Hens. Never. Ever. Ever have I seen one of these before. They are so fancy! The Silkies blew my mind. I came home and researched them. According to MyPetChicken.com, Silkies are "the lap kitty of the chicken world, complete with hair-like plumage and an incredibly sweet temperament." I am not in the market for another pet and certainly not a pet chicken but if I were think I'd be all over the blue/black skinned, five-toed, docile Silkies- I mean, look at them!

Feline Status and Hot Carrots

Essential to my feeling at home in Nashville is finding a church to be a part of. In the three Sundays I have been here I have attended three different churches. Wednesday night I checked out a home group for one of the churches. It was lovely. We hung out, ate hot carrots, discussed The Screwtape Letters, played Qwirkle, and I sneezed. A lot. You see I neglected to ask in my inquiry emails if the hosts has cats. That was a mistake. They had two. I was a sniffling, sneezing, watery-eyed mess the whole time. As much as I enjoyed the fellowship, I will not be attending that particular home group again. I have at least one more church I'd like to check out before revisiting any of them. In my future requests to visit home groups I will be asking for meeting time, address, and feline status.

Now, about the hot carrots. They are spicy and delicious. While at the cat-infested home group, I was introduced hot carrots. They are basically pickled with the additions of jalapenos and peppercorns. The hosts had made a large batch and at the end of the evening even gave me a jar. I love them!

New Digs

I am suffering from home confusion. When I talk to people in Nashville about home I am always talking about Memphis. When I think about home, I think about Memphis. But when I am talking to Peter, I call Nashville home. By no means does that mean my heart has left Memphis, I'm just suffering from a bit of confusion.

Moving on, would you care for a home tour?

Our apartment is so cute. Super cute {perhaps I'm biased}. Peyton, Leslie, and I coordinated our individual furniture contributions through email and somehow it all worked out.
